Set in the
glorious 'old' central Paris, Le Coupole typifies the traditional, fair-tale
french brasserie dining experience. Immaculately clad waiters with
impeccable manners (and a cheeky twist of gallic flirtiness), the ambiance
is only topped by the truly delicious food. Soups are zesty, hearty but
light, seafood platter (a must have) is fresh, one can almost hear the
ocean as the plate arrives, laden with crawfish and mussels. I savoured my
salmon, stole my partners avocado mousse and absolutely devoured the
chocolate souffle, which was only enhanced by the botrytis dessert winee,
as suggested by our numerous debonair waiters. The wine lists, and the
sommeliers which follow closely behind, are excellent, the options vaired
between prices and tastes. Champagnes are all 'real' champagnes from Reims
(and surrounding regions), the normal Veuve and Billecart Salmon, along
with a few little tresures. Not a particularly cheap dining experience,
but a memory which one cannot possibly economize with! |
